Albert J. Reidel

Albert J. Reidel, 79, of Erie, died Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at his home. He was born July 6, 1928 in Erie, a son of the late Samuel and Sarah Bell Reidel.

He was a graduate of East High School and was their 1945 football quarterback. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked at G.E. for 43 years. He was a member of the Erie Maennerchor Club, East Erie Turners and the Lake Erie Corvair Association. He was a huge car enthusiast, an avid poker player for 50 years and enjoyed football, NASCAR and the local dirt track racing.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Samuel and George Reidel and one sister, Matilda Bailey. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Mary Donofrio Reidel; one daughter, Teresann Greissinger and her husband Glen of Ringoes, NJ; one son, Glenn Reidel and his wife Susan of Brookfield, WI; one sister, Mary DiPlacido of Erie and four grandchildren, Jennifer Reidel, Kimberly Lohr, Ryan Greissinger and Robert Greissinger. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Fiends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm and may attend a service there on Friday at 9:30 am followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Peace RC Church, 2401 West 38th Street, at 10:00 am. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 823 Filmore Ave., Erie, PA 16505 or to the Alzheimer's Association, 1128 State St., STE 301, Erie, PA 16501.
