Alice Mae Meyer Myers

Alice Mae Meyer Myers, age 90, formerly of Clearwater, FL, died Wednesday May 2, 2012 at St. Mary's Home at Asbury Ridge after an extended illness. She was born December 20, 1921 in Osceola Mills, PA, a daughter of the late Fred W. Meyer and Nina Parker Meyer.

She was a graduate of Osceola Mills High School at age 15, and a graduate of Philipsburg, PA, Nurses Training program as a Registered Nurse. She had worked in numerous hospitals, the last being Millcreek Community Hospital in Erie, and later as an RN with the Visiting Nurses Association in Upland, California.

Alice moved 15 times during her life, spending 13 years in Upland, California and 25 years in Clearwater, Florida. As a sweet and kind person all of her life she was a deacon, and elder of the church, currently a member of Wayside Presbyterian Church. She loved to play golf and was an avid gardener, roses being her favorite. She enjoyed painting and making dolls, of which she had collected many, while living in Florida. Her family remained her primary concern and she spent her 90th birthday in Cupertino, CA, surrounded by her family. She will be missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jasper Newton Myers; a daughter, June F. Bodden; a son, Terry N. Myers; three brothers, William, George and Fred Meyer; and three sisters, Elizabeth Arbegast, Dorothy Nickodemus, and Nina Lou Comley. She is survived by one daughter, Amy M. Valentine and her husband, Dr. Randall L. Valentine, of Erie; and one son, Dr. Jay J. Myers and his wife, Sheau woei Myers, Cupertino, CA; and one sister, Edna Jo Fleck, State College, PA. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Private services at the convenience of the family. Burial at Umbria Cemetery, Osceola Mills, PA. The John R. Orlando Funeral Home, 2122 Raspberry Street, Erie, PA, is handling the arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurses Association, 2253 West Grandview Boulevard, Erie PA 16506, or to the Charity of One's Choice.
