Angela C. Hayes

Angelina C. DiNicola Hayes, 92, of Erie, passed away Monday, December 2, 2024 at LECOM Senior Living Center. She was born July 1, 1932 in Erie, daughter of the late Carlo and Yolanda (Montagna) DiNicola.

Angelina graduated from Strong Vincent High School. Following her graduation, she worked as a waitress and then worked on an assembly line at Erie Resistor making motherboards for IBM. Angelina had a passion for motion pictures, which she fondly referred to as her "stories". Golden Era classics, Westerns, and Christmas movies were some of her favorites. She loved John Wayne, Cary Grant, and Clark Gable. Angie was also an avid reader, wine lover, and had deep affection for animals.

Angie played in numerous bocce, bowling, and softball leagues.

She was always attentive to her grandchildren's activities and kept everyone around her in joyful amusement. She brought laughter to many. Her quick wit kept everyone on their toes. Her comedic flair touched the lives of many and made her unforgettable. Angie's jovial spirit lives on in the memories of her children and especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Angelina was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Christina Calabrese and her own siblings, Shirley DiNicola Salamone, Theresa DiNicola Neary, Margaret DiNicola Panetta, and Vincent DiNicola.

She is survived by her daughter, Carla A Hayes Calabrese, two sons, Michael C Hayes (Paula Palermo Hayes) and Gordon Patrick Hayes (Lisa Russell Hayes), all hailing from Erie. Angela had 11 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call for viewing on Friday at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. All are invited to attend the Service at the Orlando Funeral Home, Saturday at 10:30 am, which will be followed by a Funeral Mass at Saint Paul Church, 1617 Walnut Street, at 11:00 am. Burial will be private in Calvary Cemetery.

A special thank you to her grandson Anthony Calabrese of Mission Viejo, CA, and granddaughters, Bryana Hayes and Gabrielle Hayes of Erie, for always taking time to make everything extra special for Grandma Angie.
