Angela A. DeSanto Smoulder (née Mabie), age 58, passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Novant Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC, following a brief illness. Her loving family, traveling from across the country, was by her side. She was born on July 30, 1966, in Erie, PA, the daughter of the late Angelo and Carmella (DeSantes) DeSanto.
Angela was raised in Fairview, PA, where she attended high school and formed many lifelong friendships. She shared a deep, unbreakable bond with her late mother, whom she missed dearly. Angela had a passion for playing bocce, sunbathing at Presque Isle, and cooking and baking for those she loved. The prime of her life was spent raising her three children, whom she adored and protected with all her heart.
On September 1, 2018, Angela married David Smoulder in Erie, PA. The couple remained in Erie until 2021, when they relocated to High Point, NC. They became active parishioners of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Together, they enjoyed traveling, spending time at Chautauqua Lake, and hosting family and friends in their home.
Angela is survived by her husband, David Smoulder; her children, Nicholas Mabie, Raechel Mabie, and Joseph Mabie; her brothers, Michael DeSanto, Stephen (Jennifer) DeSanto, Timothy (Teresa) DeSanto, and Joseph DeSanto; her step-children, Angela (Jason) Constantino and Elizabeth Smoulder; and her step-grandchildren, Enzo, Luca, and Aria. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Friends are invited to call on Thursday, December 5, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, 2122 Raspberry Street. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 6, at 11 a.m. at Saint Jude Catholic Church, followed by entombment at Calvary Cemetery. The Mass will be live streamed on the church's YouTube page at https://www.youtube.com/@StJudeApostle. Memorial donations may be made in Angela's memory to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation at www.t2t.org.
