Angelo B. Bongiorno
Angelo B. Bongiorno, 72, of Erie, passed away on May 25, 2018 after an extended illness. He was born February 7, 1946 in Furth, Germany, a son of the late Aischa and Angelo Bongiorno.
He had a career in sales with 3M Corporation, Girard Plastics and Alliance Plastics, as an outside sales representative. During retirement Angelo found his most rewarding job as the promoter for Presque Isle Downs and Casino.
He had a love for people and the ability to make them laugh and feel important. His wonderful sense of humor brought joy to everyone that he knew.
As a young man he found his lifelong passion in classic cars and Formula One racing. He enjoyed traveling the world with Jackie and experiencing diverse cultures and traditions.
Angelo was the beloved husband to Jackie (Berarducci) Bongiorno, and nurturing step-father to Brett Benner (Lauren) of Philadelphia and devoted grandfather to Nicholas and Elisabeth Benner.
He is also survived by his sister-in-law, JoAnn Campanella (Anthony), nieces and nephews, and several cherished cousins including Sue Gaerttner who gave him special loving care throughout his illness.
He also served proudly as a member of the National Guard.
Friends may call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend a Funeral Service at Erie First Assembly of God Church, 8150 Oliver Road on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
