Angelo P. DeSanto

Angelo P. DeSanto, 90, of Erie, passed away Thursday, August 5, 2021 at UPMC Hamot. He was born June 11, 1931 in Erie, PA a son of the late Joseph and Philomena Dalesandro DeSanto.

Angelo served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He was a graduate of Cathedral Prep and Gannon College.

Angelo worked as an accountant for GE, American Sterilizer, GAF, Zurn and then joined and worked with his wife Carmella at DeSanto Decorating, which they enjoyed operating together for 25 years until their retirement.

He was a member of the Hickory Street Gang and enjoyed golf, tennis, and bocce. Angelo considered himself blessed with the many close friends he had throughout his life whom he considered family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carmella DeSanto and two sisters, Carol Pedano and Marianne Sperry.

He is survived by one daughter, Angela Smoulder (David) of Erie; four sons, Michael DeSanto of Erie, Stephen DeSanto (Jennifer) of Niceville, Fla., Timothy DeSanto (Teresa) of Erie, and Joseph DeSanto (Michelle) of Apex, N.C.; Angelo is further survived by nine grandchildren whom he adored, Morgan, Matthew, Nicholas, T.J., Raechel, Tara, Joseph, Angelo, Sophia, and great-grandchildren Raelyn and Maddie Lynn. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street on Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and may attend a service there on Monday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Peace Church, 2401 West 38th Street, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
