Anthony A. "Tony" DiMaria
Anthony A. "Tony" DiMaria, age 91, resident of Saint Mary's Home at Asbury Ridge, formerly of West 21st Street, died Sunday December 27, 2009 at Saint Vincent Health Center.
A lifelong resident of Erie, he was born January 14, 1918, a son of the late Sebastian and Angeline DiSiati DiMaria. He served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II. He worked for Erie Forge and Steel for 37 years before retiring. He was an avid golfer and former member of Lawrence Park Golf Course.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Esther DiFucci DiMaria; one son, Sebastian "Sibby" DiMaria; two brothers, Victor and John DiMaria and one sister, Helen Rizzo.
He is survived by his daughter, Angela Cologrande and husband Dennis; three grandchildren, Jason Worcester and wife Brianne, Adam DiMaria and Caitlyn Krause and three great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Alexis and Brooklynn all of Erie. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm and may attend a service there on Wednesday at 9:30 am followed by a Funeral Mass at Saint Paul RC Church, 1617 Walnut Street, at 10 am. A Christian Wake Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday at 3 pm. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Saint Mary's at Asbury Ridge, 4855 West Ridge Road, Erie, PA 16506.
