Anthony D. Gammiero

Anthony D. Gammiero, age 86, of Erie, died Friday, May 8, 2009 at the VA Medical Center. He was born October 26, 1922 in Erie, a son of the late Nicholas and Celia Sassano Gammiero.

He served in the United States Army during World War II. He worked for the Erie Water department for 44 years, retiring in 1999.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Emma C. Gammiero and a cousin, John DiGeorge.

He is survived by two cousins, Dorothy Ducato and her husband Joseph of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Del DiGeorge of Atlanta, GA and four second cousins, Marylou Adams and her husband, Paul, Nancy Ducato, Joseph Ducato and Johnny DiGeorge and his wife Patty.

Friends may call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Monday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend a Funeral Mass on Tuesday at Saint Paul RC Church, 1617 Walnut Street, at 10 am. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
