Anthony J. "Cherries" Bucceri

Anthony J. "Cherries" Bucceri, age 84, of Erie passed away unexpectedly Friday, February 1, 2008 at his home.

He was born June 16, 1923 in Erie, a son of the late Vincent and Anna Sicuso Bucceri. He lived in Erie his entire life. He served in the US Army during WWII. He had worked at Autoclave Engineers, retiring 25 years ago. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament RC Church. He enjoyed his family, golfing, bowling and horse racing.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel "Jo" Phelps Bucceri; an infant son, Anthony Bucceri; two sisters, Rose Ceci and Elvira Marofsky and two brothers, John and Bernard Bucceri.

He is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Sturgis and her husband Ray of Dunedin, FL and Joanne Smith and her husband Gary of Carlisle, PA; one son, Richard Bucceri of Waterford; one sister Carmella Arduini of Erie and five grandchildren, Anthony Darden and his wife Julie, Holly Smith, Maggie Ickes and her husband Michael and Erica and Ryan Bucceri. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Luca Darden and many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm and may attend a service there on Wednesday at 10:00 am followed by a Funeral Mass at Blessed Sacrament RC Church, 1626 West 26th Street, at 10:30 am Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
