Anthony J. DeFazio
Anthony J."Chocolates" DeFazio, age 95, of Erie, died Tuesday, December 24, 2013 in Florida. He was born October 7, 1918 in Erie, a son of the late Santo and Theresa Chiodo DeFazio.
Anthony was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School, where he excelled in basketball.
He worked for the City of Erie and owned Dino's Supper Club for many years. He also managed the Calabrese Club.
He was a devoted husband and kind person, always ready to help anyone.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Sam, John and Art DeFazio and three sisters, Mary Felice, Josephine Licata and Jennie Wroblewski.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Hazel Maier DeFazio of Erie; three daughters, Linda Hlavacik of York, PA, Dianne Pirozzi (Mark) of Akron, OH, Barbara Cacchione-Cuyler (Ken) of Sanibel, FL; two brothers, James DeFazio (Yolanda) and Richard DeFazio (Faye); one sister, Viola Cherico (Joe, deceased) all of Erie and seven grandchildren, Kristen Sweeney (Shanon), Julia Hlavacik, Michael Pirozzi (Cheryl), Jeffery Pirozzi (Leah), Sara and Samara Pirozzi and Thomas Cacchione. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Rosemary and Juniper Pirozzi and many loving nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of the Funeral Service there at 4 p.m. Burial will be private in Calvary Cemetery.
