Anthony Lawrence

Anthony Ray Lawrence, age 68, of Erie, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024. He was born on August 1, 1956 in Erie, a son of the late Okey and Rosalie (Prindle) Lawrence.

Anthony started his career at a young age working for Skinner Engine and later moving on to companies known as First and Penn Environmental before retiring at a young age due to health issues. His hobbies were playing golf and fishing, but he most enjoyed hunting, long rides to visit various friends, and hanging out on the porch with his dogs. He was a private man and kept most of his feelings bottled only to have them occasionally spill out. He loved to give advice but rarely took any from anyone else. He was a family man and took great pride in preparing the main courses during the holidays. He always lit up the party in more ways than one and that's why he was loved so much. His battles were real and his struggles were tough, as anybody battling cancer would know, but he never gave up the fight. He will be sadly missed by his longtime companion Mary, his daughter Nina, who loved and adored him, his brothers and sisters, many nieces and nephews, his three dogs, his Uncle Dave and longtime friend Phil.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Amy Lawrence; his brothers, Joseph "Pucho" Lawrence and Kenny Lawrence; and a sister-in-law, Sharon Lawrence.

He is survived by the love of his life and best friend, Mary Shaw; his children, Jeremy Lawrence and Angie Lawrence; his step-children, Nina Shaw and Jason Galvin; his brothers, Okey Lawrence, Gregory Lawrence (Cammy) and John Blose; his sisters, Lisa Gibbons (Rick) and Ramona Mysnyk; his granddaughter, Isabella Estrada (Patrick); and his three beloved dogs, Rosy, Aimee, and Laila. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Private funeral arrangements are being handled by the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, 2122 Raspberry St., Erie, PA 16502. A "Celebration of Life" will be announced by his family at a later date. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society (https://www.cancer.org/).
