Anthony R. "Tony" Mucci
Anthony R. "Tony" Mucci, 83, of Erie, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at UPMC Hamot surrounded by his family after a brief illness. He was born August 13, 1930 in Conneaut, OH, a son of the late John Mucci and Angeline Pizzi Mucci DiPlacido. He lived in Erie most of his life.
Tony proudly served 2 years in the United States Army 25th Infantry Division, 27th Regiment Wolfhounds, and 4 years with the United States Navy on the USS Myles C. Fox DDR-829.
He was employed by Kaiser Aluminum and served as Constable of the 6th Ward for several years followed by a long career as an Erie County Deputy Sheriff.
Tony was a long time member of the Nuova Aurora Club and the VFW Post 470.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, Joseph, Carl, Al, and Don Mucci and a sister, Mary Maki all of Conneaut, OH.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Antoinette S. Berarducci Mucci of Erie; one daughter, Angela M. Kownacki and husband Tom, two sons, Frank A. Mucci and wife Sharon and Anthony J. Mucci all of Erie. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Daniel, Joseph and Maria Mucci, and Lauren and Elisa Kownacki and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend a service there on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart RC Church, 816 West 26th Street, at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
