Antoinette Nardo Flynn
Antoinette Nardo Flynn, age 98, of Erie, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Saint Vincent Health Center after a brief illness.
She was born July 27, 1913 in Erie, a daughter of the late Vincent and Josephine Madia Nardo. She lived in Erie her entire life. She married Thomas M. Flynn in 1936 until his death in 1976.
She worked for Lake Shore Industries as a sign finisher for 24 years.
She loved doing embroidery work and especially cooking Italian food for her family. She really loved people and telling family and friends about growing up in a large Italian family in Little Italy.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by five brothers, Sam, Guy, Joseph, Frank and Vincent Nardo; three sisters, Marian Arena, Rose Herbo and Connie Vacco and two dear nieces, Josephine Carney and Gail Niklas.
She is survived by her son, Thomas Flynn of Erie; a daughter, Jean Wendelboe and husband Douglas of St. George, UT; two grandsons, Dane Wendelboe and wife Adrienna of St. George, UT and Scott Wendelboe and wife Lynette of Erie and two great-grandsons, Nicholas and Justin Wendelboe of Erie. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and a sister-in-law, Marie Licsko.
Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend a service there on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Erie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Simpson United Methodist Church, 2113 Sassafras St., Erie, PA 16502.
