Benedict A. Lombardozzi
Benedict A. "Ben" Lombardozzi, 96, of Erie, passed away Saturday, May 22, 2021. He was born August 2, 1924 in Erie, a son of the late Angelo and Anna Marie Caserta Lombardozzi.
Ben was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School Class of 1942. Immediately following graduation Ben enlisted in the Army honorably serving during World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater where he participated in the Battle of Luzon and was recognized for his bravery.
After World War II Ben received his Journeymen's certificate in carpentry and worked in this profession for 45 years. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Carpenters Local 81 and was an avid bowler, golfer and bocce player.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Paul Lombardozzi; two brothers, Angelo and William Lombardozzi; and two sisters, Helen Norgren and Mary Miraldi.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Laura DiNicola Lombardozzi; two daughters, Gina Grimm and her husband Gregory and Mariana Skonieczka; daughter-in-law, Gloria Lombardozzi; and eight grandchildren, Jacob, Andrew, and Claudia Grimm; Carly, Jillian and Samuel Skonieczka; and Alexander and Sophia Lombardozzi. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call on Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Church, 1626 West 26th Street, at 10:00 until the time of the Funeral Mass there at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be private in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Monsignor Connelly Educational Endowment Fund (MCEEF), 1626 West 26th St., Erie, PA 16508.
