Bernard L. Daugherty
Bernard L. Daugherty, age 84, of Millcreek, died Monday, February 9, 2009 at Saint Vincent Health Center. He was born May 16, 1924 in Erie, a son of the late Perry and Lena Wegmiller Daugherty.
He lived in Erie his entire life. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He had worked at Fisher Brothers, Marx Toys and enjoyed driving cars for Rick Weaver GMC. He also enjoyed hunting, the outdoors, bocce, sports and his family. He was a founding member of Our Lady of Peace RC Church, a member of the Nuova Aurora Club and the Seinbenbuerger Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Victoria "Vickie" Alberico Daugherty; a daughter, Angela Vickey; a son, Bernard Daugherty and three sisters, Ruth Lowes, Norma Benny and Audrey Daugherty.
He is survived by a daughter, Pamela A. Hawryliw and her husband David of North East; a daughter-in-law, Jeanne H. Daugherty of Erie; a son-in-law, Douglas Vickey of Casselberry, FL and one sister, Marie Caserta of Erie. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Jessica, Patrick, Bridget, Megan and Daniel and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Wednesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm and may attend a service there on Thursday at 9:30 am followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Peace RC Church, 2401 West 38th Street, at 10 am. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Charity of ones' choice.
