Carl A. Sperduto
Carl A. Sperduto, age 80, of Erie, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, August 4, 2007 after an extended illness.
He was born October 17, 1926 in Erie, a son of the late Louis C. and Theresa DeSantis Sperduto. He lived in Erie his entire life. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Carl was a well known musician in the tri-state area as well as a self employed brick layer. He was the arranger and director of the Sportsman Four and entertained for many years in the surrounding area. He was also a member of the Al Rochelle Quartet.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Richard A. and Michael A. Sperduto and a sister, Loretta Sowizral.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Adelaide L. "Wee" Minnaugh Sperduto of Erie; six daughters, Theresa Gibson and her husband, Terry of Tucson, AZ, Judith Kirkpatrick and her husband Michael of Fairview, Barbara Rossman and her husband Edward of Turtle Creek, PA, Margaret Alloway and her husband Chuck of Erie, Jeanne Edwards and her husband Jon of McKean and Mary Anne Martone and her husband Anthony of Thousand Oaks, CA; two sons, Louis Sperduto and his wife Patti of Northport, FL and Carl F. Sperduto of Erie and one sister, Nancy Iessue of Erie. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Monday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend a service there on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Saint Paul RC Church, 1617 Walnut Street, at 10 a.m. A Christian Wake Service will be held at the Funeral Home Tuesday at 3 p.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Saint Paul Food Pantry, 1617 Walnut Street, Erie, PA 16502 or to Great Lakes Hospice, 1700 Peach St, STE 244, Erie, PA 16501.
