Carmella Antonelli Ferrante
Carmella Antonelli Ferrante, age 96, of Maple Street, died Monday, December 21, 2009 surrounded by her loving family at the Village at Luther Square after a brief illness.
She was born January 8, 1913 in Forli DelSannio, Isernia Italy, a daughter of the late Roberto and Louisa Colicchio Antonelli. She lived at her home for 96 years. She had worked at Hamot Medical Center for 18 years. She was an avid cook and baker. She enjoyed crocheting; making many blankets for Empty Arms and sharing her crocheting with numerous friends. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Luigi Ferrante, two brothers, Enrico Antonelli and Domenico Antonelli and one sister, Perina Mazzocco.
She is survived by one daughter, Raffaela Talarico and husband Joe of Erie; four grandchildren, Tina Talarico of Michigan, Joseph Talarico, Adrienne Steppic and husband Chris and Anthony Talarico and wife Jennie all of Erie and three great-grandchildren, Gabrielle and Hannah Steppic and Nicole Talarico. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, today from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm and may attend a service there on Wednesday at 11:30 am followed by a Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church, 816 West 26th Street, at Noon. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Carmella's family would like to thank the caregivers at the Village at Luther Square for all their help and kindness.
