Carmella Baldi Pletz
Carmella Baldi Pletz, 79, of Erie, died Saturday, February 21, 2009 at Hamot Medical Center surrounded by her family after an extended illness.
She was born May 20, 1929 in Erie, daughter of the late Alexander and Clara Bardo Baldi. She was employed by Firch's Bakery for 12 years. She was an active member of TOPS for many years before her illness. She enjoyed family parties, horse racing, the casino, trips to Las Vegas, reading murder mysteries, playing cards and the food network. Her passion for life and her family were to the fullest; her laughter, sense of humor, wit and courage touched us all and she will be dearly missed. Her brother James gave her the nickname "Muck The Mucker."
She was preceded in death by a sister, Prudence Fratarcangeli and three brothers, Joseph, James and Samuel Baldi.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years Richard Pletz; three daughters, Clara Williams of Phoenix, AZ, Linda Evans and her husband Matt of Greene Township and Patricia Williams of Erie; one sister, Georgetta Baldi Hess and her husband Paul of Erie and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Monday evening from 7 to 9 pm and Tuesday from 2 to 5 pm and 7 to 9 pm and may attend a service there on Wednesday at 10:15 am followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 1553 East Grandview Blvd., at 11:00 am. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Kidney Foundation, 7315 Wisconsin Ave., Bethesda, MD 20852.
