Carmen Ruggiero
Carmen Ruggiero, age 82, of Erie, died peacefully on Monday February 20, 2012 at his home after a brave battle with cancer.
He was born March 12, 1929 in Erie, a son of the late Antonio and Mary Lupo Ruggiero.
He served in the United States Navy and retired from Erie Tool Works. He was a longtime active member of Sacred Heart Church. Carmen was a member of the National Club and an avid coin collector.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Marian Murphy Ruggiero of Erie; two daughters, Elaine Ruggiero and his husband Steven Lax of Sherman, NY and Carrie Landis and her husband Michael of Erie; three sons, Steven Ruggiero and wife Diann, Philip Ruggiero and wife Melody and Lawrence Ruggiero and wife Brenda; one brother, Peter Ruggiero of Erie; one sister, Gloria Weis and husband John all of Erie and six grandchildren, Aaron, Matthew, John and Lori Ruggiero, Mindy Harmle and Emilee and Madison Landis. He is also survived by two great-grandsons and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Wednesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to a service there on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart RC Church, 816 West 26th Street, at 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation, 130 West 8th St., Erie, PA 16502 or to the Jensen Landis Jr. Memorial Foundation c/o Erie Community Foundation, 459 West 6th Street Erie, PA 16507. Burial will be at Erie Cemetery.
