Carol Ann Owens Smith

Carol Ann Owens Smith, 61, of Erie, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2023 at Saint Vincent Hospital. She was born July 13, 1961 in Erie, a daughter of the late Donald P. and Jean K. Buseck Owens.

Carol was a talented crafter and was active in the Erie Guild of Craftsman, serving as their historian. She enjoyed spending her summer weekends at the Smith family camp in Corry with her in-laws. Carol loved spending time with her precious grandchildren, Owen and Grace. Most of all she loved to float in her pool on a warm summer day.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Patrick Owens.

She is survived by her husband, Jeffrey A. Smith; her daughter, Kara Nuber (Joseph); three step-sons, Robert, Mason, and Dalton Swanson (Samantha); one brother, Michael Owens; and many grandchildren. Carol was a treasured Aunt to Rachel, Paula, Rick, and Sarah Owens as well as Trish, Stephanie and Keira. She is also survived by her beloved best friend of many years, Debbie Leone.

Friends are invited to call on Thursday at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the Funeral Service there at 6:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
