Casimir J. Klemen
Casimir J. Klemen, age 85, formerly of West 35th Street, died Monday, November 24, 2008 at Saint Mary's Home of Erie after an extended illness.
He was born March 1, 1923 in Erie, a son of the late Marcel and Josephine Kownacki Klimaszewski. He lived in Erie his entire life. He served in the United States Air Force during World War II. He had worked at Hammermill for 38 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of Saint Paul Holy Name Society and enjoyed gardening.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, Edward Klimaszewski, Leo Klemen, Ronald "Rummy" Danowski and Benny Klimaszewski and one sister, Josephine Skryzpek. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Viglione Klemen of Erie; one daughter, Kathleen Mazza and her husband Robert of North East, PA; one son, Michael Klemen and his wife Patricia of Richmond, VA and one sister, Mary Pelinsky of Erie. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Eric, Tim and Beth Klemen, Mario Mazza and his wife Mel and Vanessa Mazza and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Tuesday from 2 to 5 pm and 7 to 9 pm and may attend a service there on Wednesday at 10 am followed by a Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart RC Church, 816 West 26th Street, at 10:30 am. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Sisters of St. Joseph Thanksgiving Fund, 5031 West Ridge Rd., Erie, PA 16506 or to the Second Harvest Food Bank, 1703 Ash St., Erie, PA 16503.
