Catherine Barbaro Pitto

Catherine Barbaro Pitto, age 90, of Marietta, Georgia, formerly of Erie, died Friday, June 6, 2011 in Marietta, Georgia.

She was born December 24, 1920 in Erie, a daughter of the late Dominick and Mamie Anastasia Barbaro. She was a lifelong member of Christian Assembly Church and taught Sunday school there for many years. Her ministry was to keep in touch with the sick through visits and cards.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Pitto; her son, John Anthony Pitto; one brother, Joseph Barbaro and one sister, Rose "Dolly" Barbaro Zuck.

She is survived by one daughter, Nancy Miles and husband John of Cashiers, NC; two brothers, Ralph Barbaro and wife Tonia and Frank Barbaro both of Erie; one sister, Helen LaPlaca and husband John of Erie; three granddaughters, Valerie Miles and husband Marcus Aurilius Shavez Major of Barcelona, Spain, Leslie Miles Kurtz and husband Walter of Alpharetta. GA and Sherie Miles Derks and husband Stephan of Marietta, GA. She is also survived by 6 great-grandsons and many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Thursday evening from 6 to 9 pm and may attend a Funeral Service on Friday at Christian Assembly Church, 2417 Liberty Street, Erie, PA 16502, at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Christian Assembly Church.
