Charles P. Watkins, Sr.
Charles P. "Charlie" Watkins, Sr., 81, of Erie, died Monday, February 2, 2015 at Fairview Manor. He was born September 14, 1933 in Jackson, KY, a son of the late Sheldon and Anna Cundif Watkins.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Charles worked as a roofer for Laborers Local 603 for 21 years, as a carpenter for Carpenters Local 81, and as a carpet installer at Cohen Carpets.
He was a foster parent for 20 years and a Cleveland Brown's Fan. He enjoyed collecting antiques and going to auctions.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn J. Bowser Watkins, whom he married in 1951, and an infant daughter Joann K. Watkins.
He is survived by three daughters, Cindy Snow (Larry) of Girard, Catherine A. Watkins and Joann Watkins both of Erie; three sons, Charles P. Watkins, Jr. (Christine), David A. Watkins (Lisa) and James A. Watkins all of Erie, and nine grandchildren. He is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and may attend a Funeral Service there on Thursday at 10 a.m. Burial will be private in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
