Clifford E. Witt

Clifford E. Witt, age 72, of Erie, died Sunday, December 23, 2007 at the VA Medial Center following an extended illness.

He was born February 4, 1935 in Altoona, Pennsylvania, a son of the late General S. Witt and Violet Colbert Witt Glass and stepson of the late Oliver Glass. He served in the US Marines during the Korean War. He had worked at Erie Forge and Steel for 37 years, retiring in 1997. He was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, Western movies, boating and taking Sunday drives.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Witt. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Rose M. Ventura Witt; one daughter, Carrie L. Zemcik and her husband Raymond; one son, Steven O. Witt and his wife Kimberly; three brothers, Donald Witt and his wife Zella, Kenneth Glass and his wife Rose and James Glass and two sisters, Judith Butcher and Sharon Glass all of Erie. He is also survived by five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Wednesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend a service there on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Saint Paul RC Church, 1617 Walnut Street, at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
