Columbina Alice Ann Abbey Lopez

Columbina Alice Ann Abbey Lopez, 89, of Erie, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at LECOM Senior Living Center. She was born October 12, 1931 in Erie, daughter of the late Richard John and Lucille E. DiFrancisco Abbey.

Alice was a long-standing dedicated member of Sacred Heat Church and served on numerous committees over the years. Most notably she was a member of the Sacred Heart Altar Society.

She loved her family and making time spent together memorable and fun. She had a wonderful flair for making everything just right. From the macaroni and meatballs at Sunday dinner, to the pizzelles that were always available in the pot in her kitchen pantry, and upholding holiday traditions year after year. Her favorite was the St. Nicholas Day celebration.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard W. Lopez; a daughter, Kathy Lopez Loomis; her brother, Richard Abbey; and brother-in-law, Joe Clore.

She is survived by two daughters, Lisa Lopez (Lee), Linn Rater (Randy); one son, Ricky Lopez (Sandy); two sisters, Lucille Ruffo (Joe), Carol Clore; sister-in-law, Nancy Abbey; nine grandchildren, Aaron Lopez (Gina), Beth Ann Ploss (John), Katie Dreakford (Daniel), Allison Loomis (Brandon), Emily (Shaun), Jacob and Lucia Zamierowski, and Lindsey and Ryan Rater. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Friday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. and may attend a Funeral Mass on Saturday at Sacred Heart Church, 816 West 26th Street, at 10:00 a.m. followed by burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. All COVID-19 guidelines will be observed and masks are required.
