Corine R. Fischer, age 76, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 17, 2025 at UPMC Hamot Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on June 30, 1948 in Erie, a daughter of the late Theodore and Anne (Lawrence) Patasky.
Corine graduated from McDowell High school and went on to study education at Edinboro University and then Canisius University for a Master's in Math Education. She went on to teach at West Seneca High School in New York and Girard and Warren High Schools in Pennsylvania.
She left teaching to become a stay-at-home mom with 3 beautiful daughters and helped raise her grandson. At heart she was a teacher giving her children summer lessons. She loved watching her children explore various talents and careers, always ready to buy the supplies they needed. She believed in helping them to "discover who God meant them to be."
Later in life she worked at Gannon University's Small Business Development Center and then at R. Ottman and Company. She often remarked that she felt blessed to be able to work for over 20 years with her best friend, Bob Ottman.
Corine was a strong woman and mother. She was known by many as Momma Fischer, unofficially adopting those who had no one or needed a mother's unconditional love. She often warned people that she was a hugger. Her favorite artist was Josh Groban and would listen to his music daily. Her favorite song was "You Raise Me Up" a song that was felt by everyone who met her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and self-sacrifice. She will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four Angel Babies.
Corine is survived by her three daughters, Jessica Fischer and Andrea Fischer, of Erie, and Christine Duffer (Kyle), of Pittsburgh; her brother, Michael Patasky (Sally), of Lehigh Acres; and her grandson, Isaiah Johnson, of Erie. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Private funeral arrangements are being handled by the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, 2122 Raspberry Street, Erie, PA 16502. Please consider making a donation in her memory to the Perseus House at https://www.perseushouse.org.
