David Lee Hines
David Lee Hines, 82, of Fairview, went to see old friends and the Lord on November 22, 2021, after complications suffered from a fall. He went peacefully with his family by his side. David was born in Erie August 14, 1939, a son of the late Leo and Mary Hines.
David graduated from Harborcreek High School in 1958. He was a kind, caring, gentle man who called everyone "bud" and was always willing to lend a hand. If you listened closely, you could always hear a great muttered one liner.
David worked in the meat industry for 43 years after retiring from Smith's Provisions. He always worked hard and pushed his son to do the same. He started Dave's Reconditioned Appliance in 1978, after selling a refrigerator out of the newspaper.
David loved sports, especially high school football and would most always be seen wearing a baseball cap. He enjoyed reading and anything Barbara Streisand. He loved history and unaltered classic cars and would hate to see "a perfectly good car "cut up. He never bought a car from the front row. Since he was always cold, even in the summer, he was finally able to spend some winters in Florida.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Marcia Salvatore Hines; daughters, Renee Phillips (Joe) of Lawrence Park and Stacie Brusich (Mike) of Charlotte; son, Matthew Hines (Amanda) of Fairview; 4 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the Funeral Service there at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Harborcreek Historical Society, 5661 Buffalo Rd, Erie, PA 16510.
