Dena Agnello Scalzitti

Dena Agnello Scalzitti, age 97, of Erie, died Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at UPMC Hamot. She was born September 21, 1913 in Erie, a daughter of the late John and Josephine Verga Agnello.

She was a member of the Ladies Montenero Auxiliary and Saint Paul's Roman Catholic Church.

Dena was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Scalzitti; three brothers, John, Joseph and Sam Agnello; and one sister, Lillian Berarducci.

She is survived by two daughters, Annamarie Kossler and her husband, Jim, of Westfield, NJ, and Joanne Sanftner and her husband, Thomas, of Round Hill, VA; one brother, Frank Agnello of Erie; two sisters, Rose DiTullio of Erie and Mary DiBacco and her husband, Louis, Florida; four grandchildren, Gina Kossler-Grajqevci, Brian Kossler, Lauren Kossler-Clarke and Erin Locke; and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc, 2122 Raspberry Street on Friday from 3 to 7 pm and may attend a service there on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Saint Paul's RC Church, 1617 Walnut Street, at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
