Dennis L. DelPorto

Dennis L. DelPorto, 71, of Erie, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Sarah Reed Senior Living following an extended illness.

He was born July 1, 1945 in Erie, a son of the late Louis and Susan Rigazzi DelPorto.

He was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School Class of 1964 and Gannon University. He had worked for the City of Erie as City Planner and had worked at the Erie County Assistance Office.

He was involved in many sports, especially following wrestling where he didn't miss one of Derek's wrestling matches and coaching career.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his step-son Jeffrey Finch.

He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Claire L. McCartney DelPorto of Erie; one daughter Denise L. Bedoya (Richard), San Antonio, TX; one son Derek L. DelPorto (Olivia), Sarasota, FL; two step-daughters, Kim Finch, and Sherri Porter (Mike), all of Waterford, PA; and one sister Karen S. Mazur (Michael), North East, PA. Also surviving are two grandsons, Cole L. Bedoya and Royce A. Bedoya; and two nephews, Michael J. Mazur (Monica), and Stephen P. Mazur.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be private in Waterford Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Charity of One's Choice.
