Donald F. DiPlacido

Donald F. DiPlacid, age 85, of Erie, formerly of West 38th Street, died Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Fairview Manor after an extended illness.

He was born December 18, 1924 in Erie, a son of the late Alphonse and Stella Mangine DiPlacido. He lived in Erie his entire life. He served in the United States Air Force during World War II. He was the manager of the Boston Store and Hornes Department Store. After his retirement he was president of the Erie Chamber of Commerce for 15 years. He was a member the Erie Yacht Club, Lakeshore Country Club, Erie Club and Aviation Club.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Irene B. Bargielski DiPlacido and one sister, Virginia Aumer.

He is survived by a daughter, Susan Shickler and his dear friend, Judith A. Fiddler both of Erie. Also surviving are one niece and several cousins.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Wednesday evening from 6 to 9 pm and may attend a Funeral Mass on Thursday at Saint Julia's RC Church, 638 Roslyn Ave., at 10 am. Burial will be private. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1128 State St. STE 301, Erie, PA 16501.
