DONNA (DEE) ELIZABETH HOFFER JONES

Donna (Dee) Elizabeth Hoffer Jones, age 71, of Erie, died unexpectedly on August 19, 2024, at her residence where she passed peacefully surrounded by her husband, brothers, and sister. She was born December 19, 1952 in Erie, a daughter of the late Donald Hoffer and Angela (Mancuso) Rieger Hoffer.

Donna was a lifelong resident of Erie and attended St. James and St. Joseph's elementary schools. She graduated from Villa Maria Academy High School class of 1970 and then trained in the health care industry. After working in her chosen profession, she became a full-time homemaker after the birth of her first child, Frederick M. Dudics, Jr.

Over the years Donna had a lot of hobbies such as gardening, crafts, knitting and crocheting. During the Christmas holidays Donna and her mother would bake numerous amounts of cookies for their family.

In addition to her parents, Donna was preceded in death by three brothers.

Donna is survived by her loving husband of twenty years, Arnold Jones; her children, Frederick M. Dudics, Jr. and his wife, Judith (Judi), Julia Dudics Bagnoni and her husband David, Scott Jones and his wife, Michele, and Jennifer Jones Jude and her husband, David; her brothers, William P. Rieger, Sr. and his wife, Brenda, Robert L. Rieger and his lifelong companion, Judy, and Joseph D. Hoffer, Sr.: and her sister, Christine Hoffer Chase. She was a proud Gramma of Benjamin Voli, Gregory Bagnoni, Amanda Jones and her husband, Carl Froess and Kayla Jude, Destiny Jude, Aliyah Jude and Alaric Jude. Also surviving are hundreds of nieces, nephews, cousins, and two lifelong friends, Weepha (J. J.) Bowers and Sharon Montgomery.

Donna was the proud pet parent of BooBoo Jones, her rescue dog from the Anna Shelter here in Erie. She loved BooBoo as much as any pet parent ever loved their special friends. Boo brought her much joy and companionship and Boo would sit and watch television with her. Donna was always amused by Boo and had special programs for her and Boo to watch together because Boo was fascinated by videos that included other dogs and various other animals.

Friends are invited to call on Tuesday, August 27th at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, 2122 Raspberry Street, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Burial will be private in Venango Cemetery, Venango County on Wednesday, August 28th at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Anna Shelter, 1555 East 10th Street, Erie, PA 16511 in honor of Donna.

Aa Memorial Service for Donna will be held Friday, August 30th at the VFW, 1808 West 26th Street, use the far-right door, from 5:00 PM to 7:00PM where we will celebrate Donna's life with joy and happiness. All are invited to attend this Memorial Service where there will be food and beverages because Dee would want you to come and mangia (eat) some of her favorite foods.

Donna was a loving and kind human being who held family above all else. She was always first to help her family, extended family and friends no matter her personal sacrifice. She will be dearly missed by all those family and friends that knew and loved her. Dee would want all of her family and friends to take comfort and joy in the knowledge that she now rests with God, her Father, and now joins His army of angels. She will be a guardian angel for all her family and friends as she rests in peace.
