Dora M. Viveralli Verno
Dora M. Viveralli Verno, age 95, of Erie, died Saturday, September 3, 2011 at Sarah A. Reed Retirement Center after an extended illness.
She was born November 15, 1915 in Albion, PA, a daughter of the late Joseph and Asunta Fortunato Viveralli. She lived in Erie most of her life. Dora was known for her excellent Italian cooking and had worked at the Nuova Aurora Club, Viveralli's Country Kitchen, Fergie's and the Sunflower Club. She enjoyed crafts, friends and family, and especially her grandson Jason.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander "Al" Verno; one son, Joseph Verno; a brother, James Vivarelli and four sisters, Jessie Klemm, Lena Hrinko, Rose Verno and Nancy Buffalari.
She is survived by her daughter, Maryanne Szewczyk and husband Larry of Erie; one son, Mark Verno of Corry, PA; one sister, Mary Ann Luke and husband Clarence of Erie and one grandson, Jason Szewczyk. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend a service there on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart RC Church, 816 West 26th Street, at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Sarah A. Reed Retirement Center, 227 West 22nd Street, Erie, PA 16502. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Sarah A. Reed Retirement Center for their kindness and care given to their mom.
