Dorothy Elizabeth Jenkins

Dorothy Elizabeth Jenkins, 81, passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2007. She was born in Erie, PA, October 7, 1925, the daughter of the late Anthony and Clara Cacchione Phillips.

Mrs. Jenkins was a graduate of Sacred Heart Grade School and Strong Vincent High School. She was a retired Executive Director of the Greater Erie Eye and Organ Bank. She was also employed in executive positions at Erie Independence House, Welcome Wagon International, The Community Blood Bank and the Mental Health Association of Erie County.

Mrs. Jenkins was a happy, outgoing person who loved helping people. She enjoyed her family and friends, many pets, playing cards and traveling. She lived and traveled abroad as a military dependant; was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church and the Zonta Club, and active in Girl Scouting both here and in Europe.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Philip Jenkins; her sisters, Ann Kuligowski and Pearl Torrelli and her brothers, Arthur and Raymond Phillips. She is survived by a son, Charles Jenkins and his wife Louanne; a daughter, Diane Jurino all of Erie and a daughter, Linda Alfieri of Jamestown, NY; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to attend a service on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. at Calvary Cemetery Chapel. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street. Memorial contributions may be made to the Erie Presbyterian Lodge, 2628 Elmwood Avenue, Erie, PA 16508.
