Dorothy J. Ciotoli
Dorothy J. Ciotoli, age 84 of Erie, passed away Monday, October 15, 2018 at Saint Mary's Home of Erie. She was born in Erie on July 17, 1934, the youngest daughter of the late Anthony and Rose Batista Carlini Ciotoli.
Dorothy, called Dottie by her friends, graduated from East High School in 1953 and worked at General Electric for 39 years. She was a loving sister, beloved aunt, and good friend. Dorothy gave of her time and talents her whole life. She loved to spend Erie winters vacationing in Arizona, but when she was home in Erie, and in good health, she was always there to help her parents, siblings, nieces, nephews and friends.
She loved to drive, and regardless of weather conditions, cheerfully took family members whenever and wherever they needed to go. Dorothy spent lots of time with her nieces, nephews, great nephews and nieces too. "Aunt Dots" took them bowling, to concerts, out to dinner, and to the Peninsula to swim or feed the ducks. She devoted time to the community as well, particularly at Perseus House where she volunteered. Dorothy was athletic and enjoyed sports and dancing; she was an avid bowler and golfer; she was artistic and creative, clever with many kinds of crafts. She continued her interest in arts and crafts while at St. Mary's and enjoyed the activities there.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her brothers, Dante and Arthur Ciotoli; five sisters, Louise, Edith, Mary and Yolanda Ciotoli, and Ann Ciotoli Bracalento; and a nephew, James Ciotoli.
Dorothy is survived by her nieces, Gail B. Runyan (Ron) of Cary, NC, Nancy Bracalento of Cary, NC, and Mary Grace Shannon (Denny) of Fairview, PA; nephews, Mark Bracalento (Jean) of Erie, PA and Thomas Bracalento of Clearwater, FL. She is also survived by two great nieces and seven great nephews as well as several great-great nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Mary's Home for their support and care of Dorothy during her time there.
