Dorothy Korn Bucarelli
Dorothy Bucarelli, 73, died at home on Friday, November 30, 2007. She was born Dorothy Jeanne Korn in Erie in 1934, one of seven children of the late Henry C. Korn and Elizabeth Chizmadia Korn.
She attended Villa Maria Academy and Strong Vincent High School. Prior to her career at the Erie Ceramic Arts Company, she worked for Loblaws, Western Provision, Stefanellis Candies, and Pulakos Candies. She retired from the Art Department of Erie Ceramic Arts in 1996 after 28 years of service.
She was a lifelong member of St. Andrew Church. She also belonged to Lawrence Park Golf Club, where she served on many committees for member-guest tournaments and other events. She enjoyed playing in the couples' league with her husband and the women's league with her girlfriends. She also worked the U.S. Women's Amateur at Kahkwa in 2004. When she wasn't golfing, Dorothy could be found enjoying a number of other activities, including knitting, crocheting, and other needlework; gardening and crafts; floral arrangements; home and holiday decorating; shopping at flea markets; working soduku puzzles; and cooking and baking. Most of all, she enjoyed the company of her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by infant son Anthony; brother Frederick Korn; and sister Marilyn Forsman. In addition, she was preceded in death by parents-in-law Bruno and Anastasia Bucarelli; sisters-in-law Barbara Bolash Korn and Elizabeth Noziglia; and brothers-in-law John Russell and Victor Kownacki.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Joseph; daughter Elizabeth Bucarelli of Erie; daughter Patricia Fromknecht and her husband Joseph of Altoona, Pa.; and three grandchildren, Lt. JG Joseph Fromknecht of Virginia Beach, Va.; Elissa Fromkecht; and Sarah Fromknecht, both of Altoona. She is also survived by brother Jon Korn and his wife Veronica of Laurel Springs, N.J.; brother Thomas Korn and his wife Carol of Erie; brother David Korn and his wife Barbara of Erie; and brother Richard Korn and his wife Marlene of Ocean Isle Beach, N.C. Survivors also include sisters-in-law Gilda Presutti, Jeanette Russell, and Rita Kownacki; sister-in-law Elizabeth Korn; and brother-in-law Ronald Forsman, all of Erie. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
Friends may call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, 2122 Raspberry Street, on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Monday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. On Tuesday there will be a prayer service at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Andrew Church at 10 a.m. Entombment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
