Dr. Frank C. Sala, 92, of Erie, died Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at his residence. He was born November 13, 1921 in Erie, a son of the late Nicholas and Stella DiPlacido Sala. He lived in Erie his entire life.

He served in the United States Marines during WWII.

He was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School and Gannon University. He received a Masters Degree in Mathematics from Bowling Green University and his Doctorate Degree from Nova University.

Dr. Sala was an Administrator and Consultant for the Erie School District and was a Professor of Mathematics at Gannon University.

The Erie School District dedicated the Dr. Frank C. Sala Technology Center at Central High School in his honor. His students respected and loved him.

He enjoyed gardening and baseball.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Casale Sala ; two brothers, Dr. Anthony "Tony" Sala and Peter Sala and three sisters, Mamie Scozzie, Susan Rocco and Gennie Banak.

He is survived by his son, Dr. Ronald N. Sala and wife Janice of Fairview; a granddaughter, Brittany N. Sala; one sister, Mary Ciminise of Las Vegas, NV and two sisters-in-law, Violet Sala and Ann Sala. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc. 2122 Raspberry Street, on Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend a service there on Friday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Saint Paul RC Church, 1617 Walnut Street, at 10 a.m. Burial will be Calvary Cemetery.
