Edward D. "Denny" Coleman III

Edward D. "Denny" Coleman III, age 85, formerly of Wesleyville, died Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Pleasant Ridge Manor West after an extended illness.

He was born June 17, 1926 in Erie, a son of the late Edward D. Coleman II and Harriett Burns Coleman. He had served in the United States Navy during World War II and had worked at American Meter for 36 years, and Autoclave Engineers for three years.

He was a musician and had played in many Erie area bands and Drum & Bugle Corps. He was a member of the American Legion, and Commander of Post 11 from 1961-1962; Siebenbuerger Club; East Erie Turners; Shrine Club and was also a 32nd Degree Mason.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Saradell Bollinger.

He is survived by his wife Mary Pat Fahey Coleman of Erie; two daughters, Cathy A. Coleman (Betsy Ann), of Denver, NC and Cindy S. Coleman (Linda), of Candler, NC; two sons, Edward D. Coleman IV (Deborah), and Rev. John D. Coleman (Kathleen), both of Erie; two sisters, Joyce Cundiff of MO; and Suzanne Miller of Erie. Also surviving are four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service there at 4:00 p.m. Private burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Erie Thunderbirds Alumni Drum & Bugle Corp, c/o 2415 West Grandview Blvd., Erie, PA 16506.
