Elizabeth "Betsy" R. McCarthy

Elizabeth "Betsy" R. McCarthy, age 62, resident of Saint Joseph Apartments died there Tuesday, March 16th, 2010 after a long and courageous battle with ALS(Lou Gehrig's Disease).

She was born August 24, 1947 in Erie, PA. She attended Blessed Sacrament Grade School and Strong Vincent High School, graduating in 1965.

Betsy was preceded in death by her parents Mark and Betty(Bixby) McCarthy. She is survived by her children, Bryan and wife Margi Sperry of Louisville, KY, Lisa Konkol of Erie, PA, and Brent Sperry of Erie, PA; sister Kathy Roschy McCarthy and husband Bill of Sebring, FL, brother Robert McCarthy and wife Kathy of Erie, PA and brother Mark McCarthy and wife Janet of Loveland, OH; five grandchildren, Madison and Haley Konkol, Olivia and McKenna Sperry and Barry Nienhaus; eight nephews and nieces, Matt and Mark Roschy, Tim, Sandy(Wiltshire) and Jeff McCarthy and Daniel, Oliver and Erin McCarthy, four great nephews and nieces, Zev and Akiva Roschy and Felicia and Zannah Wiltshire.

Our mom would like to thank all of the wonderful caregivers who took such good care of her for so many years.

No calling hours will be observed. A Memorial Mass will be held at Saint Joseph Apartments Commons Room on Saturday at 11:00 am. The John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, is handling arrangements.
