Elvira M. Scalzitti DeBello

Elvira M. "Vera" Scalzitti DeBello, age 90, of Erie, died Thursday, November 26, 2009 at Hamot Medical Center. She was born November 1, 1919 in Erie, a daughter of the late Leonard and Josephine Colonna Scalzitti. She lived in Erie most of her life. She enjoyed bingo, playing cards and family gatherings. She was a loving and dedicated wife and mother.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three sisters, Algisia Scalzitti, Mary DeBello and Rose Lord.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Nicholas A. DeBello of Erie; one daughter, Josephine "Josie" Sawyer and husband Dennis of Hot Springs, AZ; one son, Dominick L. DeBello and his wife Kathleen of Fort Myers, FL and one sister, Diane Lange of Margate, FL. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm and may attend a service there on Wednesday at 9:30 am followed by a Funeral Mass at Blessed Sacrament Church, 1626 West 26th Street, at 10 am.
