Emma L. Pillitteri DiCarlo

Emma L. Pillitteri DiCarlo, 97, of Erie, died Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Saint Mary's at Asbury Ridge after a brief illness. She was born October 16, 1917 in Erie, a daughter of the late Joseph and Adella Ingaldi Pillitteri.

Emma enjoyed the simple things in life, a dish of spaghetti, a mystery book or movie, a bet on a big horse race, and playing cards and bingo. She especially missed her daily card group at Niagara Village.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Anthony J. "Todd" DiCarlo, three brothers, Carmen Pillitteri, Alfred "Fred" Pillitteri, and Louis Pillitteri, and four sisters, Mary DeDad, Santina "Sandy" Giacomelli, Josephine Cerami, and Sadie Little.

She is survived by two daughters, Adele Carey Cripe and Marianne DiCarlo Swanson; one brother, Frank Pillitteri; two sisters, Viola Amatangelo all of Erie and Geraldine Porfilio of Las Vegas, NV; and five grandchildren, Mary Beth Mehler, Colleen Thompson, Erin Lynn Mehler, Ann Marie Mehler, and Judson Carey. She is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Wednesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend a service there on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Saint George Church, 5145 Peach Street, at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
