Esther A. Hoag Devine

Esther A. Hoag Devine, age 80, resident of Twinbrook Nursing Home, died Tuesday, July 24, 2007 there following an extended illness.

She was born June 17, 1927 in Union City, a daughter of the late William and Nellie St. John Hoag. She enjoyed ceramics, crocheting and bingo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harley J. Devine Sr.; two daughters, Eileen Melson and Maureen Hayes; a son-in-law, John Smith; five brothers, Arthur, Clifford, Leonard, George and Leon Hoag and a sister, Edith Fox.

She is survived by four daughters, Darleen Scutella and her husband Gary of Erie, Karen Smith of FL, Sara Sharrer and her husband Bill of Fairview and Shirley Kerr and her husband John of VA; one son, Harley J. Devine Jr. Fenelton, PA; one son-in-law, Robert Melson of Las Vegas, NV and two sisters, Ethel Matteson of Corry, PA and Edna Smith of Erie. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend a committal service Friday at Grahamville Cemetery in North East at 2:30 p.m.
