Esther L. Leone Savocchio

Esther L. Leone Savocchio, age 92, of Erie died Monday September 22, 2008 after an extended illness. She was born June 20, 1916 in West Newton PA, a daughter of the late Enrico and Assunta Fedei Leone. She owned and operated, with her husband Dan, the Brown Avenue Food Market. She enjoyed music, people, and her friends and was dedicated to her family.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Dan Savocchio, a brother Joseph Leone and a sister Lillie Berarducci. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce A. Savocchio, a sister Ann Berarducci and many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend a service there Thursday at 9:30am Followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Paul RC Church, 1617 Walnut Street at 10:00am. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. A Christian Wake Service well be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 3:00pm. Memorials may be made to the John Kanzius Cancer Research Fund 915 State Street, Erie, PA 16501, St. Judes Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to the Lecom Scholarship Fund, 1858 W. Grandview Boulevard Erie, PA 16509 .
