Eugene S. Sokolowski

Eugene S. Sokolowski, 78, of Erie, passed away Monday March 6, 2023 at Saint Vincent Hospital. He was born September 3, 1944 in Erie, the son of the late Brownie and Margaret Recicar Sokolowski.

Eugene was married to Sylvia Mielewski Sokolowski for 58 wonderful years. Eugene and Sylvia were complete opposites but the understanding of their oppositions was compromising and loving each other.

In Eugene's younger days he was an avid softball player well known to many for his great performances of being a pitcher. He enjoyed reading, golfing, and watching Old Western Movies.

Eugene was a Lab Technician at Calsicat and Lord Corporation in Saegertown. After his retirement he worked as a security guard for USA Security.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Charles and John Sokolowski and one sister, Dolores Chaney.

In addition to his wife Sylvia, he is survived by his daughter, Shelly Sokolowski (Frank Bruno); three sisters, Joyce, Donna, and Betty Ann and one brother, Donald and his wife Joyce. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

No calling hours will be observed. The John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, is handling arrangements. Memorials may be made to the ANNA Shelter, 1555 East 10th Street, Erie, PA 16511.
