Evelyn May Whitman Thumma

Evelyn May Whitman Thumma, age 94, formerly of Oregon Avenue and Carlisle, PA, died Sunday, July 4, 2010 at Saint Mary's at Asbury Ridge.

She was born February 4, 1916 in Mechanicsburg, PA, a daughter of the late John S. and Myrtle M. Bowen Whitman. She lived in Erie for the past 10 years.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ira D. Thumma and one sister, Thelma I. Widder.

She is survived by one daughter, Betty M. Thumma and husband Bill of Erie; three sons, Ira M. Thumma and wife Susan of Shepherd, MI, Tom D. Thumma of Carlisle, PA and John B. Thumma and wife Toni of Vanderwagen, NM and one brother-in-law, J. Harold Widder of Carlisle, PA. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 until the time of service there at 8:30 pm. Burial will be in Trindle Spring Cemetery Mechanicsburg, PA.
