Fillippo Guido "Phil" Pieri

Fillippo Guido "Phil" Pieri, age 88, resident of Pennsylvania Soldiers & Sailors Home, died Monday, October 31, 2011 there after an extended illness.

He was born August 5, 1923 in Erie, a son of the late Lorenzo and Bianca Corsi Pieri. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the 8th division, 13th regiment, 2nd battalion and received an honorable discharge. He worked in the construction field and then for Conrail retiring in 1991. Fillippo adored his grandchildren and cherished every moment he spent with them. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Margaret Anne Hughes Pieri; an infant son, Bruce; two brothers, Pierino and Patrick Pieri and one sister, Sarah Pieri.

He is survived by four sons, Thomas Pieri and his wife Diana of Mabelvale, AR, Philip Pieri, Matthew Pieri and his fiancée, Jennifer of Forsythe, GA, and Andrew Pieri and his fiancée Julie of Phoenix, AZ; four daughters, Kathleen Pieri and her companion, Kim of Erie, Christina Whaley and her husband Donald of Erie, Phyllis Klan and her husband Richard of Katy, TX, and Cheryl Servidio and her husband Gerald of Erie. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Friday at St. George Roman Catholic Church, 5145 Peach Street at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
