Frank Cirino
Frank Cirino, age 86, of Erie, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2008 at Saint Vincent Health Center following a brief illness.
He was born in Matrice, Campobasso, Italy on April 29, 1921, a son of the late Nunzio Antonio and Assunta DiCorpo Cirino. Frank immigrated to the United States in 1938 at the age of 17. He served in the United States Army during World War II as part of the 194th Quarter Master Division in Northern France. Frank's career involved almost a 60 year span in the grocery business. He was co-owner of Cirino's Fine Foods, the family business, and later worked as a meat cutter for Super Duper. After retirement, he was employed part-time at Summit Giant Eagle and, most recently, at Sam's Club where he was a product demonstrator. Frank's hobbies and interests included working in his yard and garden, where he grew grapes and fig trees, making wine and walking at the peninsula. Frank will be remembered most by his family and many friends for his warm smile, sense of humor and enthusiasm for life.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Francesco Cirino. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Palma Coletta Cirino; three daughters, Mary Sansone and her husband Michael, Lucy Davis and her husband Steven and Rose Nelson and her husband Terry and his beloved sister, Mary M. Cirino, all of Erie. His greatest pride and joy were his grandchildren, Anthony, Maria, Michael and Elizabeth Sansone, Corinne and Christopher Davis, Alicia and Kristen Nelson and his very special great-granddaughter, Olivia Davis.
No calling hours will be observed. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 11, 2008 at St. Francis Xavier RC Church, 8880 West Main Street, McKean, PA, at 11 am with Rev. Mark Nowak officiating. The John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, is handling arrangements.
