Frederick A. "Fred" Delfino
Frederick A. "Fred" Delfino, age 72, of Erie, died Thursday, May 15, 2014 at his residence after a brief illness. He was born January 20, 1942 in Erie, a son of the late Frederick R. Delfino and Betty Elonich Casconi.
He was a graduate of Academy High School Class of 1960; where he was a four year all star football player.
He served in the United States Army in Korea.
Fred operated the National Club and owned and operated Fego's Tavern, Houdini's Bar and Freddy's Snack Bar.
He was an avid golfer and enjoyed horse racing and all his friends.
He is survived by his son, Frederick M. Delfino of West Springfield, PA; three brothers, Anthony "Tony" Delfino (Nancy) of Erie, Michael Casconi (Shirly) and Chester "Chip" Casconi (Mindi) both of CA; two sisters, Carolyn Ann Delfino (Swift) of CA and Catherine "Katy" Bittner (Mark) of Erie; a brother-in-law, Richard Lombardo of Erie and a step-sister, Billie Murawski (Ron) of Fairview, PA. He is also survived by two cousins, Barbara Savelli and Philip Woodring of Kingsville, OH and many nieces, nephews and friends.
No calling hours will be observed. Friends are invited to attend a reception to celebrate Fred's life on Tuesday, May 20th, at the McGarrey's Oakwood Cafe, 1624 West 38th Street, from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorials contributions may be made to the family. Arrangements are being handled by the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street.
