Generoso Guido "Jerry" Troncone

Generoso Guido "Jerry" Troncone, age 85, of Erie, died Saturday, September 12, 2009 following an extended illness. He was born December 29, 1923 in Meadville, PA, the third son of the late Federico and Alessandra Troncone. He had lived in Erie most of his life.

He attended Strong Vincent High School before enlisting in the United States Navy in 1943. A navel World War II Veteran, he later worked as a welder at Erie Shipyards, Erie Forge and Steel, and retired from General Electric in 1991.

He was a devout Roman Catholic and a long time member of Sacred Heart and St. George parishes. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and politics. His greatest love was his wife Ann, of 54 years and watching his children and grandchildren grow.

He is survived by his wife, Marianna "Ann" Amato Troncone of Erie; three sons, Fredrick R. Troncone and his wife, Sima of Potomac, Maryland; Jerome L. Troncone, and John P. Troncone and his wife, Jennifer, all of Erie; three daughters, Judy Arkwright and her husband, Chris of Erie, Alessandra McKenzie and her husband, Steven, of Franklin, Tennessee, and Janet Dennen and her husband, Mark of Erie; two brothers, Mario Troncone and his wife, Consiglia of Cleveland, Ohio, and Pasqualino Troncone and his wife, Jean of Seattle, Washington; one sister, Lucrezia "Gladys" Grack of Erie; and two sisters-in-law, Teresa Tripodi and her husband, Domenico, and Lucrezia Lombardi, all of Erie. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, Arman, Allison, Emily, Luke, Christopher, Jesse, Giovanna, Christopher, Alexander, Taylor and Vincent. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Alphonso Troncone and Vincent Troncone, and a sister, Connie Supernowitz.

"Papa" will be truly missed by all those lucky enough to have known him.

Friends may call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Monday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a service there on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. George Roman Catholic Church, 5145 Peach Street, at 1:00 p.m. Entombment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery Mausoleum.
