George J. Colao
George J. Colao, age 89, of Erie, died Monday, March 21, 2011 at Saint Vincent Health Center following a brief illness.
He was born February 22, 1922, in Erie, a son of the late Dominic and Mary Farbo Colao. He had served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He had worked at the Marx Toy Company and at Pleasant Ridge Manor until his retirement. He was a life member of the Nuova Aurora Club, and was an avid bowler and golfer, and enjoyed his garden.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Sam Calao, John Colao and Joseph Colao.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Thomasina G. Bianco Colao; one daughter, Christine Colao-Nickson; one son, George T. Colao; one brother, Philip Calao,; one sister, Francis Seifert, all of Erie; and five grandchildren, Ken E. Nickson, Jr., and his wife Tica, Ashley B. Colao, Brandon G. Colao, and Ryan A. Colao, all of Erie, and Jared T. Colao of Florida. Also surviving are seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Wednesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend a service there on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church, 816 West 26th Street, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart Food Pantry, 816 West 26th Street.
