Gerald C. Forbes

Gerald C. “Jerry” Forbes, age 76, of Erie, passed away on Monday, November 29, 2021 at Saint Vincent Hospital following a battle with COVID-19. He was born in Erie on May 3, 1945, a son of the late Gerald L. and June Black Forbes.

Jerry served in the United States Navy as an aviation electrician aboard the USS Randolph during the Vietnam War. After his Navy service he achieved the title of Master Electrician and proudly owned and operated his own business, Forbes Electric. Jerry enjoyed spending time at his camp in Clarendon, PA and above all else he cherished the time spent with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jessica Jayjohn; and two nephews, Erik Pusa and John R. Wilson.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 32 years, Ruth M. Clark Forbes; his daughters, Bonnie Jayjohn (Donald), Deborah Reitz (Anthony), Brenda Jeziorski (David), and Heather Martin (James); his brother, Dennis Forbes (Sandy); and his sisters, Jackie DeHart and Kathy Reagan (Bill). He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild, a brother-in-law, two sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Thursday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. and may attend a service there on Friday at 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. Those attending are required to wear a mask.
